Forests of Washington: Forest Ecosystems and People is designed for students in grades 4-9. Through the lessons, students will be exposed to the diversity of life found in Washington State forests. Students will come to understand how people depend upon, and affect, forests. The activities in Forests of Washington will help students develop their decision-making skills, to the extent of planning and implementing community-based projects. The activities encourage getting outside, into the natural environment, as well as utilizing the social environment, such as community resource people. The lessons may be used sequentially, or teachers may select individual lessons for their students.
